Celtic Trust presents raffle proceeds cheque to Mary's Meals to help in Haiti

Trust Presents Cheque to Mary's Meals

February 12th, 2010

As promised the Trust has donated a quarter of the proceeds from our recent Prize Draw to charity. The main beneficiary was the local charity 'Mary’s Meals'. This organisation started from small beginnings, with one lorry taking goods to war torn Bosnia, grew into Scottish International Relief (SIR) and is now known worldwide as Mary's Meals. It helps people in many parts of the world including Eastern Europe, India, Asia, Africa and Latin America by ensuring that thousands of children get a nutritious daily meal and receive basic education.

More information on the work done by this wonderful organisation can be found on their website www.marysmeals.org

Making the presentation of the cheque for £250 on behalf of the Trust to John Thompson was a group of young Celtic fans. Beginning from front left they are Ciarán, Erin,Shaun Sophia and Daniel, John Thompson, Caoimhín and another Erin.
As a reward making the presentation the children were not only allowed down to the edge of the pitch but also given a rare glimpse into the Home Dressing Room where they were photographed holding the match shirts of their favourite players. If anything the Dads were more excited than the weans!

We have been told that this money will go to Haiti where Mary's Meals had three schools/feeding centres now completely destroyed in the recent horrific earthquake. In fact they still do not know what has happened to their workers in Haiti

Groups dedicated to raising funds to enable this work to go on, are now hard at work in many parts of the developed world including Sweden where the work is being led by a certain Mrs Henrik Larsson!
