Wreaths laid in memory of our founder

Joe Di Paola at the graveside

On Friday 17th April 2015, the Celtic Trust Chair, Joe Di Paola travelled with representatives of other supporters' organisations (Celtic Graves, Walfrid's Legacy, Celtic Supporters' Association and others) to Dumfries to the final resting place of the founder of Celtic, Brother Walfrid.  100 years after his death his legacy continues in the form of the charitable ethos which continues to be deep in the character of Celtic but more especially, the Celtic support.  As well as the wreaths being laid, prayers being said and Masses being offered for the repose of his soul, the Celtic family came together yet again to collect food for the present-day dispossessed two days previously.  £30,000 worth of food and £3000 in cash was raised in a few hours before the home game against Kilmarnock on Wednesday 15th April and almost 20 foodbanks were able to replenish their stocks to carry on their very valuable work. This, I imagine, would mean more to Brother Walfrid than any eulogy or wreath.

Brother Walfrid RIP
